Kerry Dixon is a Chelsea legend. He is regarded as one of the best centre forwards in the entire history of the club.

During nine years leading the line at Stamford Bridge, Dixon scored 193 goals in 420 appearances. He is the third highest scorer ever for the west London giants. Not bad for a player released by rivals Spurs without making a first team appearance.

Dixon was inspirational during two promotion campaigns for the Blues. He won the Second Divison title twice, scoring 34 and 26 goals respectively en route to first place finishes in 1983-84 and 1988-89.

The Bedfordshire born front man could also mix it at the highest level too. In 1984-85 he was the joint leading scorer in Division One (alongside Gary Lineker) netting 24 goals, and during the 1989-90 season he bagged 26 to help Chelsea finish in 5th place.

He regarded Manchester United as one of his ‘lucky teams’ scoring the winning goal for Chelsea at Old Trafford on two occasions.

His partnership with David Speedie between 1983 and 1987 is remembered as one of the finest ‘little and large’ strike combinations Chelsea have ever had.

Dixon only won eight England caps, but scored an impressive four times for his country. He was also a member of the 1986 World Cup squad in Mexico.

In 1992 he was sold to Southampton for £525,000, and later went on to play for Luton Town, Millwall, Watford and Doncaster Rovers.
