Rodrigo Hernández Cascante was born on 22nd June 1996 in Madrid, Spain.

Rodri started his professional career at Villarreal B in 2015 and shortly made his first team debut later that year. After 3 years at Villarreal, Rodri returned to his youth club, Atletico Madrid, signing a five year contract.

Rodri only played at Atletico for one season, before catching the eye of English title holders, Manchester City.

Rodri signed with Manchester City for £62.6 million in a five year contract. He made his debut in the 2019 FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium, as City won on penalties against Liverpool after a 1–1 draw. In March 2020, City won the EFL Cup for the 3rd consecutive time, beating Aston Villa 2–1 in the final. Rodri headed in City's 2nd goal from a corner, which ultimately turned out to be the winner.

During the 2021–22 campaign, Rodri had the highest pass completion rate of any midfielder in the Premier League, with 91.8% successful passes per 90 mins. This was pivotal to City's title win this season.

In the 2023 Champions League final against Inter Milan, Rodri scored the only goal- securing City's first European Cup and continental treble. Rodri was also named as "Man Of The Match" for the historic final.

Rodri made his international debut for Spain in 2018. He has since been included in Spain's Euro 2020 and 2022 World Cup squad.
