Emilia Clarke was born on 23rd October 1986 in London, and grew up in Oxfordshire. She received a private, boarding school education before studying at drama school. Her father was a theatre sound engineer, and she first became interested in acting at the age of three upon seeing the musical "Show Boat".
In her early career, she was cast in commercials, small TV roles and a television film. In 2010, she was cast as Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series "Game of Thrones" which shot her to international stardom. The show ran for eight seasons and is widely considered one of the best TV shows ever made. Clarke received four Emmy nominations for her performance.
Since her success in Game of Thrones, Clarke has appeared in a number of Blockbuster films including "Terminator Genisys" and "Solo: A Star Wars Story" as well as the Rom-Com "Me After You" and the Christmas Box Office smash "Last Christmas".
