Uma Thurman was born on 29th April 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was scouted for her acting talents at a young age and dropped out of school at 14 to pursue a career in modelling and acting. Initially having a successful modelling career, Thurman made her film debut at 17 years old, and just a year later appeared in Oscar winning "Dangerous Liaisons".

In 1994, Thurman landed the role of Mia Wallace in Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction", which is widely considered one of the best films ever made. Thurman won critical acclaim for her performance, gaining Golden Globe and Oscar nominations.

Thurman and Tarantino reunited in 2003 for the two-part martial arts masterpiece "Kill Bill" in which Thurman plays the lead role in a part reported to be written for her to play. She received two Golden Globe nominations for the films which are regarded as a cult classics.
