On July 29, 2018, Geraint Thomas became the first Welshman and third Briton to win the Tour de France.

Becoming the first rider to win on Alpe D’Huez while wearing the famous yellow jersey and then confirming his dominance in the Pyrenees.

Thomas first rode in the Tour in 2007, when he finished 140th of the 141 finishers.

The Team Sky rider’s victory comes in his ninth Tour, one fewer than the record for most appearances before winning, held by 1980 winner Joop Zoetemelk of the Netherlands.

Thomas has also won three World Championships and two Olympic gold medals.
